Mitsubishi Electric Corporation declared that it has provided 7.946 photovoltaic (PV) modules to Japan Airport Terminal Co Ltd, which handles the activities of Haneda Airport. The company provided lead free solar modules that will not pollute the atmosphere.
The 1,246 kW solar PV systems fixed over the roof of two airport passenger terminals and a car parking extending over an area of 9,411 sq.m is equivalent to the area covered by 36 tennis courts. The planned system includes a 829.54 kW sub-system comprising 4,366 PV modules fixed over the roof of Terminal 1 and a 167.2 kW arrangement consisting of 880 modules fixed over the roof of Terminal 2 and a 249.75 kW solar system containing 2,700 half size modules fixed over the roof of the P4 parking meant for cars.
The new PV installation is anticipated to generate 1,157 MWh of clean power annually and will meet a part of the power supply requirements of the two terminals and the car parking in addition to cutting down carbon dioxide emissions to the tune of 362 tons.
