Japan Airlines Celebrated for 40 Years Of Service To Guam

Guam – Friday marked the 40th anniversary ot airline service for the Japan – Guam route. October 1st, 1970 was the inaugural flight that came in from Haneda Airport, Japan.

The Japan Airlines Aircraft flight 941 touched down at the Guam International Airport shortly after 2 PM. The Boeing 767, made its way to gate 9 where it was greeted with a ceremonial water salute by two airport emergency vehicles. The 189 passengers departed the aircraft and were given shell leis by members of Japan Airlines, the Guam International Airport, and the Guam Visitors Bureau.

Japan Airlines Acting Station Director Robert Navarro says they also had a ceremony for the departing flight, Flight 942.

Despite Japan Airlines reducing their daily flight from three to one, starting Friday. Navarro says with all the hardship Japan AIrlines is going through, they continue to show their committment to Guam. He says Japan Airlines is here to stay.
